Bonnie Henna Describes How Writing Eyebags & Dimples Was Part of Her Healing Process

Mamodima Monnakgotla from Sowetan LIVE spoke to Bonnie Henna about her autobiography, Eyebags & Dimples, and how writing it was part of her healing process as she battled with depression.

Henna spoke about her grandmother’s depression and the impact that apartheid had on her and many others. She also opened up about her mother’s abusiveness and dismissal of Henna’s struggle with depression.

These were the words of actress and author Bonnie Henna during a phone interview with Sowetan about her battle with depression.

Henna was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2008. She says her mother and grandmother suffered from the same “darkness” and it does not help that she comes from a society that does not take the condition seriously.
